No IMAX cameras were used on Fallout (and I'm assuming none were used on Mando) but both projects still expand the frame for their key action setpieces, mimicking the look of the switch to IMAX and hoping to subconsciously convey the same feeling of "epicness" without actually putting in the production effort that shooting on IMAX would require. It's super weird!
Samurai Jack was a big pioneer in this technique, and did it to much more of an extreme, also before Nolan's IMAX films
Mandolorian as a whole owes a LOT to Samurai Jack, tbh

Enjoyed this. A total mash-up of the jawa episode + the forest people episode from season 1 haha. I found the re-tread balmy though.
Boba Fett's death never felt earned or real even as a kid in the 90s, so it doesn't feel cheap at all for me to have him back.Toggle Spoiler

Yeah this is pretty much where I am too.
I also had high hopes that the fakeout was the end of it but I guess after TLJ Disney doesn’t have the appetite to make good storytelling choices that risk pissing off the man baby audience.Toggle Spoiler
man iforgot they were doing this.

I mean playing with aspect ratios for artistic purposes is certainly a thing that’s been around for a while and used in loads of anime/anime-inspired stuff like samurai jack. This strikes me as more specific and different though, and it’s also not like Wes Anderson using different shapes to convey different time periods or anything, it’s specifically drawn from this weird stretch of time where big event films had certain action scenes filmed in larger format. like the fallout thing is so deliberately done to mimic what it looked like in ghost protocol when they switched to imax for the big stunt. I think this episode follows in that more recent tradition personally. If they did samurai jack level shit and were really playful with it that would frankly rule

I don't think he spoke but I'm assuming it'll be his regular clone wars voice since this one leaned a little harder into the prequel tie ins (the speeder that is half of Anakin's podracer/repair droid antics)Toggle Spoiler

I mean, this show isn't gonna retcon the prequels, guys. Jango Fett, Boba Fett, and all the clones are gonna look and speak like Temura Morrison.

Also feel like people who reduce Morrison to "That One Guy" status need to watch Once Were Warriors.

really enjoyed this. Hope Olphyant sticks around for a few episodes.and more Amy Sedaris is always good. I love how much they leaned into The Good The Bad and The Ugly aesthetic.

I love that Olyphant is just leaning into playing a cop of some sort in literally everything he is in now, he's a marshal in the new season of Fargo as well

Leguizamo’s voice was unrecognizable too. This show really gets off on paying for recognizable actors and making them invisible.
