ya I gotta watch S1 still so I’ll shit up, I’ve shared my opinion which is that I’m tolerant and appreciative of TROS because I was so devastated by Carrie’s death

and that I’m a contrarian shit :)

but I like to make peace with keyboard so good times ayyyyy :D

I only let my kids play with my old Kenner toys, none of that wack later stuff. This might be the exception!

No herzog figure?
Combarieu declares that the songs of birds are not "musical" either, because they are "very difficult to take down in notation." See his Music-Its Laws and Evolution, 155. Will some divine power please create a "Musical" bird to sing the Air for G String in exact Equal Temperament for M. Combarieu?

yeah. i really like the 6" toys too but that's too deep a rabbit hole to get into so i never started getting them. the only modern one i have is this 6" boba fett that's done in the color scheme of the vintage figure instead of the more realistic/movie-accurate one

First Mando ep was pretty cool. Called the ending though, would have been so much better if only BF’s armor had survived. Bad sign for where the show’s headed imoToggle Spoiler

there's some interesting study to be done on how the IMAX aspect ratio changes from (predominantly) Chris Nolan films have been co-opted as a storytelling device in recent years - something that was once the functional result of an actual format change (switching from 35mm anamorphic to the full frame IMAX 70mm) has since been interpreted as an announcement on the film's part that "some shit is about to go down," and is now being used to signify the same in films like Mission Impossible: Fallout and this new Mandalorian episode. No IMAX cameras were used on Fallout (and I'm assuming none were used on Mando) but both projects still expand the frame for their key action setpieces, mimicking the look of the switch to IMAX and hoping to subconsciously convey the same feeling of "epicness" without actually putting in the production effort that shooting on IMAX would require. It's super weird!

It’s a pretty subtle effect as these things go. I wouldn’t be surprised if there were a bunch of other recent examples too. But Mando calls attention to it by having the black bars slowly descend onto the screen again once the action is done. It’s a solid ep though aside from that nonsense and what the ending portends for the future of the showToggle Spoiler

Good episode, glad it’s back

The set ups always feel a bit clunky to me but the action is great. Even though it’s polished and I’m sure it has a big budget it doesn’t fall into prestige TV cliches which is a relief.

Oh but I don’t care anything about boba fett and it’s so funny he’s been a fan obsession. considering how much I know about that character this show basically already was a boba fett show in the sense it’s a gun slinger in cool armor who says littleToggle Spoiler

Yeah this is pretty much where I am too. I also had high hopes that the fakeout was the end of it but I guess after TLJ Disney doesn’t have the appetite to make good storytelling choices that risk pissing off the man baby audience.Toggle Spoiler
