Finally a piece of fiction about a college professor navigating the dual crises of modernity and midlife

I started watching this last night, my father was an english professor (and my mom was an adjunct for many years before switching careers) so i had some interest and it was okay? First episode was alright but i started to fall asleep during the george saunders one.

Maybe some colleges have them mixed together but it irked me to see that hank is the head of the English department but all the classes he teaches are creative writing classes, in my college those were two different departments. Also feels like all the humor and references are entry level, if you want to make a show about a pretentious english professor you should make it as niche as possible imo. This show probably won't be renewed because it plays it too safe. I like bob odenkirk though so I'll keep watching
Life's a journey :)

ratings can't be great and Odenkirk's the only reason AMC might renew it but it's a decent enough watch if a bit boring
