It's been a long time since I played Settlers, but I'd say I'm a fan. It's also been a while since we've played, but there's a Diplomacy thread floating around here too.

Try Princes of Florence.

Going though a massive phase with these. I'm buying games at a ridiculous rate.

I just got the Dominion expansions on an impulse buy (Amazon is dangerous). Only played Intrigue so far...there're some great cards in there. Can't wait to dive into the other two (and Prosperity when it comes out). If you like Dominion, I feel like the expansions are must-buys.

Puerto Rico is obviously great. We've played Power Grid twice so far...it seemed boring at first but the second playthrough was awesome.

My gal had a dice-rolling RPG going with friends for the six years she lived in DC. Even I haven't done that kind of stuff since college.

She could probably out-D&D my level of knowledge.

we played my dad's 1960s-era mille bornes on vacation in florida once. i can't explain it but somehow my whole family came out of the experience with "mille bornes" being the new slang for a shitty game that nobody wants to play.

oh i played diplomacy once too and it was fun but we decided to call it quits once it got down to the last 3 or 4 of us

i saw there was a hpn game of that a while ago and i'd play if it was happening, but i'd probably be too nice to do very well

this died out after a few games, couldn't get 7 people to play consistently.

i've only ever played much catan, but a friend just dropped a ton of money on some new ones. we've played a couple games of this: Twilight Struggle. it was fun, but keeping track of the rules was tough and we probably fucked them up. anyone else played?

I go through phases of playing these when I have friends that are also into them, and then years of nothing when I don't know anyone.

I pretty much just play SC2 lately.

So last week I ordered a bunch of games based on research and suggestions from this thread (and a couple of old ones):

Agricola (been meaning to get/play this for so long)
Battle Line
Chicago Express
Le Havre
Memoir '44
Taj Mahal

I should be even more excited than I already am (ie. very), right?

yo reviving this thread 2 say i played this yesterday and it wuz awesome. pretty complicated rules. real nerdy topic. the co-op gameplay was nice. enjoyed the fact that the game took 4 hours to play and nobody was particularly tired of it by the time it ended (we sealed fuckin Yig in fuckin outer space). it's too bad that my family would never be interested in playing this game.
