i think my thing was TD was giving it benefit of the doubt that it was actually a commentary on misogynist serial killer pulp that treats violence against women as fodder for dificult men's personal explortations of their demons bc it was prestige TV, and ultimately concluding it basically just is that, not meta-that, but with HBO performance values and production values made me feel sorta icky and was the end of my engagement with that sort of storytelling

you absolutely did not have any version of that thought in 2014, but go off old buddy
i didnt say i did, said thats what i was left with afterwards and why i peaced out on the show and didnt come back for subsequent seasons and divested in a lot of that kind of tv
i apologize i didnt mean to say i took some noble stand at the time or anything. i can see how that came out wrong. i just left the thread generally bc just that it left me cold. my personal association with TD though is that it was a turning point for me in divesting fin that whole genre. sorry if it came out wrong, BV
yeah, it can be a trip to look back on stuff you liked so long ago (but while still in your official "adult" years). i watched 4+ full seasons of HBO's Entourage

let us all fondly reminisce on the heartfelt paean to friendship forged in fire, the friendship of Velcoro, Bezzerides, Semyon, Woodrugh and those other guys in the meetings
Jenkins at least it'll look great but idk. so close to going fox news comments section here, I'd like to see a more intense procedural where the cops are laying their lives on the line.
